Germany. During the recent IGE tour we were given some interesting information about 2025. 100 years ago saw the introduction in1925 of the class 01 4-6-2. This will be celebrated by running a major railtour utilizing eight class 01 locos culminating with a major event with them at Neuenmarkt-Wirsberg. There are several operational locomotives which could be used for the tour; one thinks of 01 066 and 01 180 both at Nördlingen , and 01 202 in Switzerland. Also probably being contemplated are some of the following 01 509, 01 519, 01 1066, 01 1075 and 01 1104. No date can be given just yet as all locomotive owners have to be contacted and agree upon suitable dates. It is likely to be September or October after the fire ban season. More information will be given when IGE make it known. (Tour contact Brian Garvin)
